Client Case Study - Precision Parts Engineering Ltd

Article Date: 09 January 2009

Background

Precision Parts Engineering is a specialist CNC machining company that can expertly machine and deliver Quality assurance from Precision Parts Engineering Ltdcomplex components within a huge range of sizes. It has built its customer base around the latest in CNC technology and its skilled and committed workforce. High-speed access through the latest in Broadband technology means large CNC/CAD programme files can be easily accommodated.

Manufacturing Concern

In recent times, Precision Parts has lost some long term customers because of relocation of manufacturing to Eastern European and Asian locations. The company therefore required a website to showcase the quality of its work and generate new business in worldwide markets.

Precision Parts was keen to grow and expand its business and particularly keen to increase the usage of its large machines, which have been the focus of its most recent investments.

The company required a partially updateable, legally compliant website that could be found by prospective customers looking for the manufacturing capability they have to offer. Therefore it was important thay the new website would attract enquiries, address new markets and subsequently help to develop the business.

Activities Undertaken

The website weQuality assurance from Precision Parts Engineering Ltd built for Precision Parts Engineering focused on the key areas of engineering work that the company specialise in. Their new website reflects the high quality of their work and the methods they use. It was important to ensure that the company stood out from its competitors, to showcase the fact that Precision Parts Engineering is more than just another engineering firm based in an engineering heartland. To this end a professional photographer was also employed to take high quality images of the business and the products it manufactures.

Precision Parts was given the facility to manage the content of the Industrial Expertise section of the website so they can showcase their work on an ongoing basis. The project was part-funded by the Manufacturing Institute.

Results

The new website is all about adding visibility to the business and fully utilising the web to showcase their talents to a world market. From the outset, success was to be judged on being found by the worlds' most powerful search engine - Google.

The results* speak for themselves when you search their key phrases:

  • "Plant Capacity" – Page 1 on Google (position 7 out of 32,700,000 results)
  • "Large Machining" – Page 1 on Google (position 6 out of 340,000 results)
  • "Wire and Spark Erosion" – Page 1 on Google (position 10 out of 196,000 results)

*Results accurate at time of writing, but due to the volatile nature of Google are likely fluctuate.

Clearly, the company achieved its goal.

The Future

Since the completion of this website the company has been taken over as a result of a £2million management Quality assurance from Precision Parts Engineering Ltdbuy-out. At the time of the take-over in August 2008, the PPE Managing Director, Paul Wardleworth, said: “We are delighted to complete this deal and look forward to growing an already sound business to become one of the leading precision engineers locally and internationally.”
